Real Estate Advertising
Real estate advertising is present wherever real estate is sold, although heavy real estate advertising exists in more populated areas where there is a good deal of high priced real estate available. Real estate advertising also includes rental properties as well, but is primarily related to sales. At the low end of real estate advertising is the advertising done by home or business owners who wish to sell privately without involvement with real estate agents. Such real estate advertising is done through local newspapers primarily, and is relatively inexpensive. An on-site sign might augment the real estate advertising placed in the local papers. Real estate advertising by the owner eliminates the fee paid to a real estate agent upon sale of the home, but often takes more time to locate a client than real estate advertising done by an agent. Real estate agents may also use local newspapers for real estate advertising, perhaps with a display ad. A large advertisemen may be used for real estate advertising if a new complex of homes or comdominiums is being advertised. This warrants a larger expenditure on real estate advertising than just a local advertisement, as there is major revenue potential. Many real estate agents advertise broadly in the print materials that are offered free of charge to consumers...which may be a real estate guide to an entire area. One disadvantage of this type of real estate advertising is that the publications age, and some of the homes or commercial properties advertised may have been sold. A simple, pervasive form of real estate advertising is the signs placed on site when a property is for sale or has been sold. Such signs may publicize both the agency and the salesperson. Major nationwide real estate sales organization may do real estate advertising on a national scale via TV or print. This type of broad real estate advertising has increased as the population has become more mobile, with individuals moving from place to place due to job change or transfers. Through TV real estate advertising, companies hope to influence potential buyers to look up the company's local office in a place where they are moving or being transferred. Real estate advertising usually emphasized a broad range of listings and successful sales, as well as good service on the part of agents. Real estate markets rise and fall as do other commercials markets, and it miight be a tendency on the part of real estate agents to reduce real estate advertising expenditures when the market is not good. This is not a wise move as it would encourage less response on the part of potential buyers. Even though buying is slow, it is good to use real estate advertising to encourage potential buyers to look at what is available.
