Fishing Rods

There are many types of fishing rods and each is designed for specific type of fishing. Generally speaking, you have the the coarse fishing rods, the spin cast fishing rods, the spinning fishing rods, the fly-fishing rods and the ice fishing rods and the surf cast fishing rods. If you are going after the really big fish, you will need what is referred to as a course fishing rod. Of coarse fishing rod is heavier and more powerful than other fishing rods so it can stand the stress and strain of landing the larger fish.

The coarse fishing rod is used in deep sea fishing and is more durable than other fishing rods. If you're going after anything other than the big fish, you can use a medium to small power fishing rod. These fishing rods can be spin and cast fishing rods or spinning reel fishing rods. The spin and cast fishing rod has a reel on top of the rod and a spinning reel type has a reel on the bottom of the rod. The size and weight of the fishing rod you use depends upon the type and size of fish you are going after. Different rod types and sizes have different action and so react differently and allow different movements when fishing. The type of fish your after will also determine the size and type of bait you will be using and this affects the size and weight of a fishing rod you must use.

You will need a longer heavier fishing rod to cast a larger heavier bait to handle landing a larger, heavier fish. The fly-fishing fishing rod is a specially designed fishing rod for casting a lure that is usually a light fly made out of feathers or fur. The fly-fishing rods for freshwater and saltwater and they need to be very flexible to be able to cast the fly in a whipping motion so it can land lightly on the water simulating the landing of a natural insect. Fly-fishing fishing rods are usually longer and lighter than other rods. They were once made primarily out of bamboo, but now the most fishing rods are made of carbon fibers. The ice fishing fishing rod is usually a short heavyweight spin and casting rod that is specially designed for fishing through a narrow hole in the ice in extremely cold weather. It must be very durable and cold resistant.

The surf casting fishing rod is a rod that is specially designed for saltwater fishing from the shore or rocky outcroppings near the shore. This fishing rod must be longer and stronger than other spin and cast rods as the bait in surf cast fishing must be cast from the beach, out beyond the breakers in order to reach where the bigger fish usually are. These fishing rods need to have a good action and be very durable in order to land bigger fish in sometimes rough surf.
