Fishing is not considered a dangerous sport, but as with any outdoor activity, there are some dangers and fishing safety should always be considered. Electrical storms can come up suddenly and you should not be out on the water or on your boat. so if the weather begins to look threatening, head for shore. One of the most important rules of fishing safety is when in doubt, wait it out. Do not go out on your boat in bad weather. Wait until it clears up. Another important rule of fishing safety for boaters is do not bring large fish like sharks, tuna or marlins onto your small boat. These large fish can be quite dangerous and cause significant damage to you and your boat. Remember that you are responsible for the safety of everyone on your boat so in addition to observing fishing safety rules, also observe all the rules of boating safety. Fishing safety is an important topic and one which you should not take lightly. You need to be careful at all times while fishing so as not to be injured or cause injury others. Fishing safety means being mindful of slippery surfaces and always being careful with sharp hooks and where you are casting your bait. Fishing safety also means having a first aid kit on hand for emergencies and knowing at least the basics of first aid. By observing some fishing safety basics and alwyas using common sense, you can enjoy fishing safely.
