Night Fishing Tips
Most people are familiar with fishing and believe it to be a daytime only activity, but there is a whole world of night fishing going on out there that they are unaware of. Anglers who either can't get out to fish during the day or just prefer fishing after dark are out night fishing. You can see them anchored under bridges night fishing in the reflected lights or out night fishing on a lake moving slowly along some intrepid souls even stumble around along the shores of lakes and the banks of rivers in the dark night fishing. Some fish, like the catfish, are natural night feeders so you are more likely to catch them if you go night fishing for them. But most types of fish that are available in your local waters can be caught while night fishing. You just need to know how to do it. Night fishing presents its own set of challenges. Number one is how do you see what the heck you are doing? You can't just light up your boat and all the surrounding waters with lots of light because you will scare all the fish away. so what do you do? Well, you need small flashlights in order to see what you are doing in the boat. but while night fishing, you need to be careful not to shine you task lighting into the water. Then you need some kind of light to see where you are casting you line and what is going on with your line once it is out there in the water. Supposedly, a blacklight works well for this purpose. When night fishing, using a blacklight will make your line glow purple so you can see it and the light from the blacklight doesn't penetrate the water for more than a foot in depth so it won't be perceived by the fish. So with some care and the right equipment, you will be able to see what you are doing while night fishing. Another challenge while night fishing is the need to keep quiet. Talking doesn't disturb the fish, but banging around on the boat and bumping the boat into things does. Dropping things on the bottom of your boat and slamming the lid of your ice chest will all scare away the fish when you are night fishing. So when night fishing, keep the clutter in your boat to a minimum so you are not stepping on things and stumbling about. And when night fishing, have all your essential gear on your person so that you are not searching around in the dark for the things you need and making a lot of noise. Night fishing in the cool of the evening can be great fun and very productive. Just be careful out there because night fishing can also be dangerous. It's dark ya know.
