The gear used for boat spear fishing is otherwise the same as the gear used for shore diving spear fishing. The sport of blue water spear fishing has grown in popularity in recent years. In this type of spear fishing, divers are taken by boat out into very deep waters where they fish for very large fish like Marlin and Tuna. This type of spear fishing can be a very exciting, but dangerous sport. Spear fishing has also been done for centuries without diving. In this type of spear fishing, the fisherman wades into shallow water and catches fish with a hand spear. This type of spear fishing takes a lot of practice and calm water is a necessity.
