Vintage GamesEverybody's nostalgic about their youth. Everything was better back then, whenever back then was. So it is no wonder that people are interested in buying and collecting vintage games. I guess vintage games could be whatever you want them to be, but to me, for games to be vintage games, they need to be at least fifty years old. So let's make it easy and say any games made before 1960 are vintage games. the truly vintage games like classic board games for the 1930's are certainly harder to find than games made in the 1950's, but the vintage games that you collect are up to you. some people want the truly vintage games like a first issue monopoly game in good condition. Or they want to collect vintage games like sets of old wooden pick up sticks or old glass marbles. Some of these vintage games can be true antiques and might be pretty costly and very hard to find. As far as vintage games that are antiques, there are people out there who collect old chess sets and since chess has been being played in one form or another since 600 AD, you could spend a fortune buying these types of vintage games. Most people who collect vintage games these days are looking for vintage games from the 1940's and '50's. There were a lot more games mass produced during these years than earlier so you have a better chance of finding some good vintage games and not going broke acquiring them. Classic board games from the 1940's in good condition are harder to find, but they are out there. You can also find card games sets from this era if those are the types of vintage games you are looking for. Of course, the vintage games of Chinese checkers, checkers and chess are available on the market. Vintage games from the 1950's are a big part of the vintage games market. Baby boomers who grew up during the 1950's are old enough now to be quite nostalgic for their youth and nothing brings back that rush of memories and feelings of being a kid like vintage games. Some of the vintage games from the 50's are the same games as vintage games from the 30's. And some of those vintage games are still being marketed today. They have been updated and changed some over the years, but they are still the same game. some board games are true classics and have really stood the test of time. Some of these vintage games have even gone on to become available in electronic versions of the old classic game. Someday, not too long from now, the old software versions of these vintage games will be intage games themselves and may even bring a few bucks on the vintage games market.
