Holiday Spending
Holiday spending is a topic that is of interest for many reasons. Holiday spending might be a source of stress and heartache. Either holiday spending can be excessive and personal consumer debt can be incurred or holiday spending can be impossible due to poverty and little or no resources. Holiday spending shouldn't and doesn't have to cause worry and spoil the holidays. With the exception of buying foods and also making the holidays fun for children and the elderly, holiday spending is almost entirely unnecessary. But regardless, holiday spending is a multi-billion dollar source of revenue for many companies and drives the economy in many ways. So holiday spending will not be going away any time soon. Holiday spending involves lots of shopping at the malls, departments stores and online. People are doing holiday spending to decorate their homes, dress their families, feed their guests, make charitable donations and purchase items as gifts. When holiday spending is done with control, all of these reasons can be fun and help you enjoy the holidays with a spirit of love when shared with family and friends. There are alternatives to a lot of the holiday spending that goes on. One alternative is regarding gift exchange. Re-gifting is not a new idea, but is a great idea if you have received a gift in the past that is still in great condition, sometimes even in its original packaging, but you aren't using it. Maybe it is a duplicate or for one reason or another, doesn't suit you. Why not pass it along to someone else who will appreciate it and enjoy it when you don't? This is not a careless way to give a gift and it will lower the amount of holiday spending you do. In terms of entertaining, a great way to cut your holiday spending budget is to have parties, but not to provide all the refreshments yourself. Ask your family and friends to bring along their favorite holiday dish and let everyone in attendance have an opportunity to sample lots of different holiday treats. The same goes for beverages. Each guest could bring a beverage and the selection will be varied and again, everyone will be able to try lots of different things and get ideas for their own holiday entertaining. You might like to do one or the other and you provide all the food or all the drink and that way you are still hosting and serving refreshments of your own, but you don't have the full burden of all the holiday spending for your party.
